Sometimes I hate to say it, because I didn’t always have Great Expectations for my dating life. Get this, merely hours ago I broke my resolution and smoked two packs of cigarettes. On a weekend of loneliness, duh! You better believe it was great. Is that even legal? Honestly, it’s when I initially thought about meeting new singles in my new hometown.
I already knew the solution. I can mix up my social life at a matchmaking service like Great Expectations Dallas. And it sounds like a plan. Why do I bring it up? While eating corn on the cob at Julie’s soccer finals in Dallas last week, great aunt Judy had to know if I have settled down with my true love. They always bring this up, every year. Anyway, I looked up at them and yelled, “I’m eating here, and no.”
No surprise that Cousin Terry continued harping on the topic of marriage. I joked to each of them: “Hey look, what do you know about dating?”
Guess what? They smiled politely. Irritated, I went to the gym so I could clear my head. What a waste of time! I can’t imagine what I was thinking there. Chuck, who wrote to me from Egypt, advised that I join Great Expectations. I said, “Yeah, maybe I should.” Should have thought of it myself. I love the Denver Singles Events at Great Expectations.
Early on, dating events were new because I’m a traditionalist of sorts. I’d never done anything like this before, and then I started getting butterflies in my stomach. This slight disaster could not pull the plug on a great time. The night was a happy hour not to forget. The host was incredible and I’ll always remember the many enjoyable people I met, all available singles.
Afterwards, I realized why so many people show up to these amazing Dallas singles events, I ran into a handful of marvelous guys and gals who clearly share a parallel understanding for how dating should be done. Can’t imagine why I used to let everyone give me a hard time about being single. Wonderfully enough, dating in Dallas with Great Expectations is a good time and like a dream come true.
