Brighton Short Breaks is experiencing its busiest ever week this week with the Brighton Pride week being in full flow. The town has filled to capacity with every self-catering holiday home, boarding house and hotel reserved long ago. People are still calling and enquiring for flats and apartments - but apart from the occassional last minute cancellation they are going away disappointed.The summer festival runs for a whole week, with soemthing for everyone in ters of activities across Brighton and Hove; keep your eye on the whats on page for up to date listings. This is the only guide devoted solely to the event so you can be sure it will have everything you need to know about the summer festival week, main event on Preston Park and the Carnival Parade.Prides organising body happily announced the theme for this year’s celebrations in September last year. Following a record number of suggestions from Pride members and the public the Board of Trustees and Staff unanimously voted for the central theme ‘Pride Beside The Seaside’ which was suggested by Saskia Jackson from Brighton.Pride in Brighton & Hove promotes equality and diversity, and advances education to eliminate discrimination against the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) community. It raises awareness of these issues by facilitating and promoting a number of events including Winter Pride and the annual free summer festival. It also fulfils its objectives by making grants and/or donations to other charitable and voluntary organisations.
